Start-Up (Put-On-Production) of the New 12”, 12.6 km Pipeline for the Bekapai Phase 2B Project in the Mahakam PSC

Jakarta – Total E&P Indonesie’s Bekapai Phase 2B Project has reached a remarkable milestone on Saturday, July 25, 2015, with the start-up of the new 12”, 12.6 km pipeline from the BA Platform in the Bekapai Field to the SWP-K Platform in the Peciko Field.

Both oil and gas fields are part of the Mahakam PSC operated by Total E&P Indonesie (50% participating interest) and Inpex (50%) under the supervision of the Special Taskforce for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities, Republic of Indonesia (SKK Migas).

“We are pleased to announce, that all activity -- from service and material procurement, engineering, manufacturing, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up -- have been performed safely, with zero Lost Time of Injury, in a professional manner,” stated Hardy Pramono, President & General Manager Total E&P Indonesie. He added that this start-up was one week ahead schedule with regard to the Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) commitment of August 1, 2015, as stated in the FID approval. “It helps save around US$ 10 million (more than Rp 130 billion),” he said.

This new 100 MMSCFD capacity pipeline will de-bottleneck the Bekapai oil and gas export production, which used the existing Bekapai-Senipah 12” pipeline.

Thanks to the new pipeline, the gas production of Bekapai has been increased to 50 MMSCFD since July 29, 2015, and is estimated to reach 75 MMSCFD after well service intervention by the end of July 2015. In addition, the existing 12” Bekapai-Senipah pipeline will be dedicated to exporting oil production from Bekapai.

Such a milestone can only be achieved by strong commitment, professionalism and excellent collaboration between all the entities involved.

In addition to completing the above pipeline package, the Bekapai Phase 2B Project is also progressing well on its platforms modification package, which has completed the BA, PP, BG, and SWP-K Platforms modification through 7 safe SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operation) involving more than 120 tie-in points and shorter shutdown duration (11 days total optimization). After this modification, the BG Platform will be able to receive 5 new wells through 3 new wells slots on the extended platform. Currently, Bekapai 2B is progressing on the last offshore campaign at the BL Platform.

The main challenge of this Project is that the activities are carried out on live platforms (SIMOPS) while maintaining good production at the Bekapai field without compromising safety, minimizing production shortfall, and achieving project cost optimization.

The next expected milestone of the Project is the new wells POP (Put On Production) at the BL and BG Platforms. Two wells have been drilled at the BL Platform and will be put on production by mid-September 2015. Four wells will be drilled at the BG Platform, with first gas estimated in early December 2015. The Bekapai Phase 2B project will increase gas production to 100 MMSCFD and maintain oil production at 12,430 BOD. It will make significant contributions to Total E&P Indonesie’s yearly target productions of 1,700 MMSCFD for gas and 63,700 BOD for oil and condensate.
