Contract signed by Total E&P Indonesie and Akuo Energy Indonesia regarding the engineering for 7 MWp of solar power projects in Indonesia

JAKARTA, February 2015 -- Total E&P Indonésie (TEPI) and Akuo Energy Indonesia, an independent producer of renewable energy, announced the signing of a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for  a total capacity of 7MWp solar project. This initiative is the largest solar energy project to date in Indonesia.

With a total capacity of approximately 7 MWp, this project concerns the construction of three solar energy farms in the province of East Kalimantan.

The Senipah Project will be based within the Senipah terminal operated by TEPI. With a capacity of approximately 4 MWp, this project will be the largest scheduled solar power project in Indonesia to date. The Solar PV will be installed using the ground mounted system, utilizing the availability of area without hampering any activity in Senipah. The electricity produced from this project will augment the existing generator used to power Senipah processing facilities. This project will generate the equivalent amount of the electricity consumption of 2,700 Indonesian houses.

The Balikpapan Project will be based in the town of Balikpapan, on TEPI’s office facilities. With an installed capacity of 2 MWp, the Solar PV panels will be installed on the roofs of several office buildings. It also plans to build three car parks with PV panels as a shelter. This project will generate the equivalent amount of the electricity consumption of 1,200 Indonesian houses.

The Handil Project, a base operated by TEPI with an installed capacity of 0.8 MWp, will involve the deployment of solar panels on the roofs of four of the base’s buildings. When this project becomes operational, it will be able to provide 14.5% of the Handil base’s electricity consumption.

Once they are in operation, these three projects will make it possible to avoid the emission of  2,220 tons of carbon a year, and are perfectly in line with the Indonesian government’s target of achieving 23% of renewable energies in its energy mix by 2015.

About Total Exploration and Production in Indonesia
