Henricus, Experiencing Diverse Cultures

Henricus is a Subsurface Asset Manager at Total E&P Indonésie whose career with us spans four continents — Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. Before working for Total, he was awarded the prestigious consortium scholarship from Pertamina BPPKA and was pre-selected by Total E&P Indonésie to earn an M.Sc. and engineering degree from IFP School in Paris (2000–2002).
Broad, Diverse Opportunity at Total
Henricus began his career at Total S.A., France in 2002, and was promoted to Reservoir Engineer when he managed the Handil gas lift project. In September 2007, he became Senior Reservoir Engineer in Nigeria, successfully increasing production from 100,000 barrels of oil per day to 150,000 barrels of oil per day. From 2001 to 2013, based in Paris and Brisbane, he led a $20 billion project to optimize Total’s Coalbed Methane and Gladstone Megaproject in Queensland, Australia. His Total journey has taken him to five countries on four continents (Indonesia, France, Nigeria, Norway and Australia).
Working with Multicultural Staff
From 2011 to 2013, Henricus managed 10 people of seven different nationalities at Total’s headquarters. It was a memorable time for him. He worked with people from different backgrounds and different perspectives, yet all sharing a common vision to provide today’s energy and a better energy future. In addition, he had to adapt to new environments as he constantly moved between Paris, Indonesia, Nigeria, Norway and Australia. It has been a colorful career path for him, learning new perspectives of people from different ethnic backgrounds.
More Challenges Await
Today, Henricus is Subsurface Asset Manager at Total E&P Indonésie. He is battling against the decline in production with robust reservoir management, well intervention and the drilling of new wells. He manages and optimizes the production of mature oil and gas fields offshore at Mahakam with a team of 30 employees and three direct reports. Total’s mission now is to motivate and retain employees through human resources policies that offer them a variety of career paths and skills development opportunities, to meet today's new energy challenges more effectively.

Total provides me with opportunities to work on state-of-the-art projects while exploring different places and experiencing diverse cultures.
